I'm all for it
I am for it in the summer time, in the winter time the afternoon would be better. Yesterday there was hardly any wind and it was cooler till around 10-10.30.
Not keen....as I see it people go out to the field around 2.30/3.pm. .the hottest time of the day...by the time I arrive in summer ..4.30/5.00pm they have either crashed or had enough and retired to the clubhouse to chat...(Dan always flew till late )...but this is the best time of the day to fly ...the sun is behind us and it makes the plane very easy to see as opposed to morning flying which has claimed many planes due to sun in the eyes. There is still a couple of hours daylight....plenty of time to fly late in the afternoon...watching the sun go down while having a chat and watching the kangaroos come in to feed would be a shame to miss .P.S. great to see some action now the forum.
Its just a thought atm Kennyglide, our Sunday club days are held in the mornings so a few of us are trying Wednesday mornings. Just lately the temp at around 3.30-4 has still been around 33degs and only tolerable about
5.30-6 which doesnt give us much time to crash our planes. Maybe once we get into cooler weather we can go back to afternoons, with the firebans, also some of us are going stir crazy just sitting around.
I'd never be able to get there that early. The oldest of my kids don't emerge until 8:30 with the youngest monster emerging at 10 or after.
We're all too nocturnal to ever be seen at 7am unless we've wet the bed...
Yeah Greg, as previously stated ...get out to the field at 4.30 or 5.00 ready to go and there's heaps of time to fly on the long summer days.....besides the wallabys would miss us....but if you get a good roll up in the mornings it speaks for itself....we vote with our feet.Sorry to hear of your unfortunate nocturnal habits Marcel...I've been told it is the best time of the day haha
It doesn't look like we'll.have F5J gliders back this year. That's a real pity. It was great having them here. Some pilots were concerned about our trees, as the competition requires taking risks by flying low while still chasing thermals. Dalby is a much longer drive for them but doesn't have trees, so most events are there.
We will still be looking in to starting an electric rally here.
Over the weekend we had 41mm of rain, on Monday morning there was another 9mm in the gauge, great morning of flying, Tuesday morning tipped another 7.5mm out of gauge, so 57.5mm so far. Airfield is looking green again, outer field is also greening up, if we keep getting more rain, someone might have to fire up the ride on to mow.
I won't be able to make it on Wednesday morning or afternoon flying this week but so far the mornings have been brilliant, if Thursday morning is fine then I'll be there.
Mild to Wild are closing down. They are discounting everything. Scanners are going for $189.
Hi ,be warned... this is a bit of a whinge...here we go .There was a great deal of grief and angst when we lost our Web page. ..we now have a Great New Web Page and for some unexplained reason we seem very reluctant to use it.....we have had very few posts on this forum over the last few months...Wednesday morning flying has now turned into Wednesday afternoon flying again. ..nothing on this forum about it ....unless I missed it...someone was kind enough to send me a text...lots of other communication happening, but not on our Forum which should be our First Line of Communication that's what it was set up for..... ...I think it would be a good thing if at least all committee members used our dedicated WAMS website.as the first line of communication. ......i.cannot understand why more members don't comment on this great Forum..that performs so beautifully....and for free. ...created by JR..who had to go through quite a difficult time to get it to where it is today....this forum is really the LIFE BLOOD of our club....not Facebook, little texts here and there...texts do have their place if something is called off ,or for other urgent matters..but Warwick Aero Modellers is our main page ...the page prospective members and other interested people are referred to..What would you think if you looked on this site with a view to joining our club???.I know what I would think.... (not much happening here) ...that's the impression I would get ...I Do Know lots of stuff is happening.in the club...it is there in the Events section.... .but it doesn't look like it on the forum...no friendly chatter, no talk about planes , engines fuel...batteries.. ect..ect..especially in the last few months...I have stopped contributing recently , it has just been dead...felt like I was talking to a brick wall.....I know when I look at other sites I like to be able to glean at least some info as to what's going on in the club and maybe some technical info as well...please someone explain to me why they just perhaps look on the WAMS site, but are reluctant to comment...gets a bit same ol same ol with the same 4 people commenting ..and rarely at that.....Surely more than one committee member must realize it is imperative to use our Web page , not just texts..our great WAMS website was built to communicate to our members and anyone who may be interested in joining...this is where we can show the club has some life ...some vibrancy....show we have some knowledge and some humour, show we are friendly an helpful... ect. ....Would be great to use this site to let other members know when we are going to the field for a fly also ...we all like a bit of company.....Loves yous all..Going for a cup of tea now...Cheers
