Hi ,be warned... this is a bit of a whinge...here we go .There was a great deal of grief and angst when we lost our Web page. ..we now have a Great New Web Page and for some unexplained reason we seem very reluctant to use it.....we have had very few posts on this forum over the last few months...Wednesday morning flying has now turned into Wednesday afternoon flying again. ..nothing on this forum about it ....unless I missed it...someone was kind enough to send me a text...lots of other communication happening,but not on our Forum which should be our First Line of Communication that's what it was set up for..... ...I think it would be a good thing if at least all committee members used our dedicated WAMS website.as the first line of communication. ......i.cannot understand why more members don't comment on this great Forum..that performs so beautifully....and for free. ...created by JR..who had to go through quite a difficult time to get it to where it is today....this forum is really the LIFE BLOOD of our club....not Facebook, little texts here and there...texts do have their place if something is called off ,or for other urgent matters..but Warwick Aero Modellers is our main page ...the page prospective members and other interested people are referred to..What would you think if you looked on this site with a view to joining our club???.I know what I would think.... (not much happening here) ...that's the impression I would get ...I Do Know lots of stuff is happening.in the club...it is there in the Events section.... .but it doesn't look like it on the forum...no friendly chatter, no talk about planes , engines fuel...batteries.. ect..ect..especially in the last few months...I have stopped contributing recently , it has just been dead...felt like I was talking to a brick wall.....I know when I look at other sites I like to be able to glean at least some info as to what's going on in the club and maybe some technical info as well...please someone explain to me why they just perhaps look on the WAMS site, but are reluctant to comment...gets a bit same ol same ol with the same 4 people commenting ..and rarely at that.....Surely more than one committee member must realize it is imperative to use our Web page , not just texts..our great WAMS website was built to communicate to our members and anyone who may be interested in joining...this is where we can show the club has some life ...some vibrancy....show we have some knowledge and some humour, show we are friendly an helpful... ect. ....Would be great to use this site to let other members know when we are going to the field for a fly also ...we all like a bit of company.....Loves yous all..Going for a cup of tea now...Cheers
Just a heads-up on some possible future dates.
17th of May Scanner Racing (to make up for the first round that we missed due to the weather forecast)
7th of Jun General Meeting (set fees for 2020/2021)
21st June Come & Try Day

These are only proposed dates at the moment, except for the Scanner Racing, which we have to lock in for advertising purposes.

The field map sign has been done by Zooma Signs and I finished the field rules sign yesterday, so they will both be at the field in the next day or two, ready for the Scanner Racing this Sunday.

Hi Marcel,
I think there is a scanner event down at Jim Gibson field around the 10th of May. Might not be many scanners left for the 17th of May ( just a thought).
The 10th of May is Mother's Day. Following the event at Jim Gibson field, I suspect all the remaining Scanners will be stomped on as soon as they return home.

Thanks GBAR, I was thinking that was the date but I lost the list of dates Dennis gave me. I wonder if it will still go ahead if Rod is away.
We have a newbie, going by the call sign "Ducktail". Welcome aboard !! WAM members fly's most Sundays but we have a club day on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month, everyone is welcome. Currently the club house is still under construction and we are slowly getting there. When we finish the building we intend to have more days set aside for construction and projects. Currently a few of the members are constructing core-flute models and there are plans at foot for a Scanner version core-flute racer. We have a few members that would rather sit down and build their models from plans rather than be test pilots. We also have trainer aircraft for anyone wishing to have a go at flying, Dave W is our beginner trainer, if you wish to start learning on a small foamie pusher type aircraft, so you can get your head around the basics. If you prefer to try your hand at larger IC engine powered or electric powered aircraft, we also have competent trainers to show you how, using a buddy system, if you get yourself into an awkward position, they can take over.
Cheers

Hi Greg...,I had previously heard that someone had plans for a corflute Scanner...can you tell me who has them?... ,I'd love to see them.
Dave sent a reply to my email about restricting flying as follows:

My thoughts only but if we are going to keep the club open. We need to be specific.

Social Distancing.  At all times. Including pits, flying box and field and clubhouse. No buddying up or offering assistance. Admire others aircraft from afar, offer assistance verbally from a distance, sympathy and condolences from not too close, walk of shame will be done alone.

No handling of other person’s planes or equipment.

One person flying at a time, no more than 2 in the spectator’s box.

Bring your own food and drink. Till further notice no communal cooking. Either bring your own cup or glass and utensils or wash up in hot water and detergent and place away after each use.

Sanitising gel to be used before and after eating (provided and left in kitchen area.)

Bring your own writing utensils, tools or equipment, don’t lend to anyone else.

For your consideration, may not be all encompassing. I think we have to consider restricting visitors, family and friends for a while as well but that’s for greater minds than mine to ponder.

The committee will be trying to meet shortly using skype/video conferencing. The one JR has been experimenting with (Zoom I think it's called) is free for the first 35 minutes. If this is successful, we may attempt to run a GM down the track using it.
Meetings may have to be adjourned every 30 minutes for a wee break (wee, as in small).

Please talk among yourselves and on here so we can come up with a solution that keeps us flying.
It's sad when the first you hear about the MAAQ suspending all club flying is when your wife tells you. No email from the MAAQ, nothing...

Jason posted a link on our Facebook page from the MAAQ Facebook page. A section of it is as follows:

However, the latest Queensland Chief Health Officer's directives (enforceable by law) are now clear with respect to confinement to home and non-essential travel. In essence the directive is as follows:

All people must stay in their homes except for:
1. shopping for essentials - food and necessary supplies;
2. medical or health care needs, including compassionate requirements;
3. exercise with no more than one other person (unless from your household);
4. providing care or assistance to an immediate family member;
5. work and study if you can’t work or learn remotely.

Maybe I can still sneak out with my discus-launch glider... it's exercise, surely...

I'll cut & paste the full wording in an email in case you don't look at Facebook.
Its kinda weird that I can fly from home and invite another member from the club to come out and exercise and fly but we cant go out to the club airfield and do the same thing. I can also buddy up with the DX9 and stand 3mtrs away from each other for social distancing purpose's.
