Yeah Greg, its 2cell 6.6v already up to 7v and still going ...wonder what the max is?

Some charge them to 7.6 or 7.4 volts. One of mine terminates at 7.2 the other at 7.4 Nothing you can do about it unless you have a fancy one.

They are safe to charge at a much higher rate than Lipo's apparently. I recall Bob (Wolf Models) telling me that his reciever packs can be charged at 5 amps (2200mAh). I've never tried it though. The most I charge my LiFe's at is 1C. Usually at .5 as the lower rate allows the balance function to work faultlessly, not that LiFe batteries go out of balance like my older LiPo ones seem to. Charge them at 1C or more and it terminates the charge with some cells at 4.25 while others are 4.15

Just be aware that the LiFe batteries have a super flat discharge curve. My transmitter tells me when my receiver battery is running low and beeps far too early when using LiFe batteries because of the load of several digital servos. 6.6 volts is fully charged and 6.2 volts is about to fall from the sky. Voltage under load can't be accounted for with my transmitter.

I charge my lipos at 4C. Some LiHV (4.35v lipos) can be charged at 6C even. That would be 13A for a 2200. Wouldn’t do that to a low discharge rate receiver battery though unless you like flames

4C! 6C!!! What sort of charger to you have Liam!? Are you using an arc welder instead of a charger?

I wonder if everyone in the streets lights go dim as soon as Liam gets home from flying...

All of my chargers, past and present, have a maximum of 50watts on each output, which limits it to around 2amps for a 3 cell LiPo. At my former club, they started with a bank of 6 solar batteries and a solar array twice as big as ours and they ran out of capacity by each Sunday afternoon. Several members had a variety of eklectic pattern models, large aerobatic models and twin-engined scale models and the like, so had high output chargers similar to what Liam and others must have. On display days and special events, they had a generator running to run a charger to charge the solar batteries to charge the LiPos.
Imagine the bank of batteries you'd have to have at home if you wanted to be self sufficient and be able to fast-charge your future eklectic car...

Is your charger a 12volt charger Liam or does it need a higher voltage power supply? From what I know, running off 12 volts limits its output due to mathmatics. Somehow.

When you are either in "Post a New Thread", Post a New Reply" or in "Full Edit" | "Edit this Post" mode you can use the following to add graphic images to your posts.

1. Adding image from another website.
   Click on the "Insert an image" icon above. Add URL (location of image on external website) and set the optional Width and or Height.
   eg. Insert https://www.wamqld.com/forum/images/focus/logo.png for URL and then click on Insert.
   
   
   
   
   
2. Adding a video from a video server.
   Click on "Insert a Video"icon above. Select a video type - usually YouTube or Vimeo. Add Video URL (location of specific video on video server).
   eg. Select YouTube, then Insert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrI20bCA-FQ and then click on Insert.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
3. Now for Attachments.
   Scroll down in your Post or Edit Post page and see the Attachments section. Each member of this Forum has a limited space to store their own Attachments. Notice immediately under the heading Attachments you have an indication of how much space you have used and a link to "View My Attachments". Using this link enables you to preview and delete from your collection.
   
   To add an Attachment Click on the Browse button. This will open a new window where you navigate your own PC to where you have your images stored. Once selected you now need to click on the "Add Attachment" button.
   
   Next you place the cursor where you would like to see the image. Then click on the "Insert Into Post" button.
   eg. When you click to attach to a post I see you will see the attachment=xx surrounded by square brackets appear. Then I usually click on the Preview Button to see how this will be viewed once posted.

   Note that you can also remove attachments should you change your mind.
   
   

So hopefully this will help. Adding images and video certainly adds character to your posts. Exploit this feature at your leisure.

Thanks heaps John for the image info.....            also nice video ..... we should be able to learn a lot from his videos.......... and hurrah for HK for recognising our needs and making the foamboard  affordable.

My charger is just a hobbyking reaktor 250W. I believe they are currently $60 but I got it on sale. It's just a 12V charger so it needs an external power supply but mine can only handle 8A. I mainly have batteries around 300-750 mah 3s and 2s. Not a real lot of power required to charge them fast. I personally would never charge anything over 4C
