"SPAD" Simple Plastic Aircraft Design
Hey Peter T, what's the point in buying another scanner, you are too far away to come and race!! The Warwick cup is being flown on the 20th of this month, the weekend after the F5J glider comp. I know, give the scanner to Rielly so he can compete in the scanner race, it only cost you $50 LoL.

Hi can anyone tell me what is happening regarding the plans for a corflute SCANNER?

JR found one online, but it's more like a boomerang trainer than a Scanner from a quick look. He was thinking that it would kill three birds with one stone, by being a robust trainer, be something that would round pylons well and be a club project to get members building and hanging out together (and spreading the corona love).

I don't know if we copied a Scanner if it would be allowed to race. Dennis' scratch-built Scanner ended up being significantly lighter than a shop-bought one, so if he flew it well and it proved to be faster down the straight and through a turn, other pilot's wouldn't like it and they'd wrap aluminium foil around his transmitter antenna again. That worked this time and we don't think he noticed.

Hi Kennyglide,
I made some plans off a scanner and gave them to Dennis, he has made one out of balsa but the plans can be adapted to core-flute.

PS, you'll need a .46 to see your plans come true!!!

A 46?! Ken's models would simply fall from the sky with such limited power!

I wonder how a clone would go. I doubt you could get the wing profile the same due to corflute resisting that initial bend to the thickest part of the cord.
