Gregs ...how to post photos ....is on page 2 of this thread...... I also found I could copy and paste at a certain point through the process?

Our Club is looking for competitive glider flying ideas ....fun stuff .....ie.. planes of a specific wingspan, or a particular type of glider, and most importantly a competition that can include anybody who owns a glider....we have a generous club member who has donated a number of altimeter sensors ...what a great start.....all we need now is some creative thinking to get this up and running.....

Maybe we could start with a time that we have to max, with penalties only applied if you land off the strip and no spot-landing bonus. No pressure to risk your model then. Any spot-landing type comp makes it unfair if you have a Radian, for example.

Another could be a mystery flight time (or accumulated flight time if it requires more than one flight). Nearest landing to the mystery time could be the winner.

My feeling is that it needs to allow for those who do not wish to risk their model unnecessarily or only have a Bixler to compete with.
[Image: SaitoFS82b.jpg]Everyone knows that REAL ENGINES are used by REAL men. Eklectic motors are best left for use in toothbrushes and other unnecessary things.

Yeah Marcel, we just need to make a start .....it will take a bit of maneuvering to keep everyone happy but will be worth it in the long run.....having the altimeters is a great start .....just gives us so much more scope to plan suitable competitions for the masses.

Looks like their are some very keen flyer's from other clubs who would like to come up to WAM to have some pylon racing contests. Short races like 3 or 5 laps. With flying wings pylon racing and anything goes racing. Any members interested?? Probably at the end of September or early October.

Maybe mix in some glider activity as well, make a good day of it!! Start around 9ish with scanner racing followed by assassin racing/pylon followed by F3 style 6 minutes flight, landing close to the mark. Could have pylon racing with what ever plane you have or prepared to sacrifice/3 laps. Think of things that would entertain!!!

Also be good to get these gliders ready to get easy access  to the ESC to plug the altim eters in ...perhaps if people  are interested in the limited altitude type comp... they could bring their Gliders along this coming Club Day ..  we could take a look and discuss how we are going to move forward not only with the altimeters but other types of gliding comps as well.
